Agriculture is a mainstay of the economy in rural communities. In recent years, local food has become an important piece of the puzzle, providing sustainable food to rural areas without access as well as economic benefits for small growers. Unfortunately, some growers lack fundamental knowledge of running a business, from incorporation to business planning to financial management to labor laws.
Alliance for Rural Impact has developed, Impact Groundworks™, a set of workshops and one-on-one assistance designed to help farmers build and maintain the business systems needed to run a successful enterprise. By focusing on the strengthening of the local food systems in rural communities through supportive services for small farmers, outreach to local markets, and collaborative development assistance for cooperatives and food hubs, ARI is making an impact in rural and tribal communities.
